Ren Fest!

9 Nov

I’m back… and this time full-throttle…hopefully! This past weekend, Cade and I went to the Texas Renaissance Festival in Plantersville, Texas (about 45 minutes from College Station). It was the first time for both of us to go, and I must say, it was interesting. Actually, we had a really great time watching all of the shows and the people…which is an entirely different discussion in itself. You should know by now how much I like to watch people, and boy were there people to watch.

The prices are reasonable ($23 for adults) for an entire days worth of entertainment. The food was kind of pricey, but that’s to be expected at a venue like that. I suggest trying the fried mushrooms, they were great! All of the shows that we saw were good, but I would recommend The Ded Bob Show for sure. The jousting and fire whip show were neat too. The atmosphere is a lot of fun, if you get into it. The more you get into the theme, the more fun you will have.

Be aware though that you’ll be walking on dirt, so I wouldn’t wear nice shoes. And, if you have allergies, you may want to watch out for those too (it’s in a forest-like atmosphere). While I am handing out cautions, I should also remind you to look at the row number that you park on. Don’t be like Cade and I and have to walk down 5 different rows to find our car, because we were too overcome with excitement to look at the row number when we parked.
